A gallery in Tribal Museum has been conceived in an integrated expression for both picture and words. In this gallery a month long painting exhibition tribal artists under the title shalaka is organized. Paintings by the selected artist of the month are displayed in this gallery where their works are also for sale.

The paintings made by tribal artists are part of their lives. paintings made by them can not be kept in the category of art done by children as one can see that these are not mere crooked or criss cross lines but there is vastness of color with lines so these paintings are the culmination of their traditions, memory and myths. artist coming from particular tradition depicts that in their paintings or art form .no matter of how many past life experiences are stored in the minds of the tribal communities which has been given the name of community memories ,and these accumulated memories of several lives of theirs comes in their forms in painting or sculpture or any other art. These memories have their presence in form of myths and then these myths most of the times get transformed into art. The lives of tribal communities have developed into a complete entity. The tribes support their lives and art with all those materials which nature has instinctively provided them. whatever have been received from their geographical conditions they try to find the extreme of it in their lives. Their social, economic and spiritual concepts are fulfilled by that. The spiritual life of the tribes is associated with very complex myths which seem very smooth but primitive and crude from above, but they have deep meanings hidden in them, on the basis of which tribal life is governed and incomprehensive. Tribal paintings many a times see the flow of colors, tangled lines , somewhere the expansion of dots, Somewhere the characteristics of the prodigy and elsewhere the roughness of the shapes can be seen, that is why these tribal paintings amaze the urban societies, and take them into another world
