TRIBAL SPRITUAL WORLD

TRIBAL SPRITUAL WORLD

The Divine Space in the tribal world view is defined by the abstract. Their deities dwell where they wish to and there are no confines of temples. The Divine Presence of Gods and Goddesses has been represented by stones, mounds, flags, sticks, pillars, tridents, earthen lamps or terracotta offerings, raised platforms seen on the side of roads, amidst jungles or on the bank of a small pond and sometimes on invisible boundary of village. The concrete form of God is absent.

Symbols, signs and images in which tribal communities pose faith are in fact worshipped like Gods and Goddesses. They look beyond these symbols and images. There is an enormous vastness to perceive. The Supreme Power exists regardless of abstract or concrete. Faith is the only passage to follow. This is the reason they never attempted to build any God's place or shrine as they think that buildings finally collapse.

Therefore, all good and evil spirits dwelling in the jungles, ponds, rivers, hills have been invoked in this Gallery. There are a number of symbols like terracotta offerings, tridents, earthen lamps, Meghnad Khamb of Korku tribe, Sarag Naseni of Gonds, Gal Bapsi, Tatal devi's (who joins broken limbs) place of Bhils, Dev Gudi of Murias; Maharani Khamb of Baiga etc. representing the Divine Power. There are souls of ancestors, wandering spirits, spooks and ghosts, innumerable protector Gods, some are protecting seeds, some bringing strayed cattle back home, some cure broken limbs and some free village from epidemics.

A visit to this gallery is an opportunity to experience myriad expressions of faith. This gallery exposes visitors to an extremely new realm of tribal spiritualism and its varied aspects.

Efforts have been dedicated to creating a mystic atmosphere to view our planet from a different perspective. The Gallery appeals to imagination of visitors to make them feel the same way the tribals do. The deities know no boundaries so the sacred places of both Madhya Pradesh & Chhhatisgarh are created in this gallery of tribal spiritual world.
